buildings

Buildings of various sizes develop around an open courtyard and join the existing sports hall. These structures are used as primary schools and nursery schools: the lighting project aims to ensure the careful well-being of children. Energy sustainability, environmental, visual and psychological comfort of people are considered. The lighting is homogeneous, with excellent color rendering, pleasant vision in the absence of strong shadows, glare, reflections

The project is inspired by the morphology of the region's villages, which often group buildings of various sizes around an open courtyard. The building intervention is organized in two distinct volumes that create a single whole with the existing sports hall and its future expansion. Fitting with great precision into the site, the new volumes define a modestly sized square accessible from the north and open to the landscape. Perfectly integrating the sports hall, this simple composition limits the volumetric impact of the project on the context and allows the exceptional environment of the site to be enjoyed from all directions.
The project provides for a clear separation between the primary school and the nursery school classes, which are located in the smaller building with the rhythm room on the ground floor. The primary school is similarly organized on three floors, connected by flights of straight stairs and double-height spaces.
Schools are complex structures within which different and interdisciplinary activities take place, punctuated by the passage of time: the hours of study, refreshment, work, play, sport, music.
The lighting project has among its objectives energy sustainability, environmental, visual and psychological comfort, an integral part of the architectural project which is obtained by guaranteeing homogeneous lighting, excellent color rendering, pleasant vision in the absence of strong shadows, glare and reflections.
The safety of lighting is fundamental as it must be totally guaranteed considering that the spaces are used by children; particular attention is given to the location of the systems, the good quality of the devices in terms of technical characteristics, reliability, duration and maintenance cycle. In fact, although it is a 2013 project ( end of construction 2018 ), the latest generation LED source fixtures are used.
The recognisability of the spaces is given by the different types of devices installed, by their placement in the rooms, by the lighting values prescribed for each visual task to be carried out. The lighting therefore has a signaling value that accompanies and guides the routes. Also important is the positioning of the lighting fixtures that integrate with the architecture and must be out of reach of the students. For example, in the "Salle de rythmique" lighting fixtures with a circular design with different diameters are installed which generate dynamism and rhythm in the environment, the classrooms are characterized by lines of suspended light which integrate with the exposed wooden beams.
