Project: Fuori serie

The ground floor houses the new library, while on the floor above it there's a room for temporary exhibitions. Here, one after another, the many thematic exhibitions that present the Triennale's Permanent Collection of Italian Design to the general public, are set up. "Fuori Serie" (One-offs) took as pretext the fact that some of the exhibits were coeval with the space in which they were displayed and used this as the key to designing the exhibition setup. The brick walls formed the backdrop, against which long panels rested, presenting the two contrasting scales of detail and period setting. Artificial lighting recreated the effect of natural light from above, resembling the opening towards the sky that Muzio had desired. Long, slightly curved platforms of oxidized steel were arranged on the rust-colored carpet, raising the furniture exhibits and imperceptibly giving them a sense of order in the space.
